Who's entered this? Who's ran this before ? Any good? I'm doing it for the 3rd time. It flat, usually very well supported. Starts at pride park and goes through ambaston into elvaston park, then back along the river. Usually quite a few harriers do it. It's in June so cam vet quite warm but there's plenty of water stations

Hi Sharon, the best way to improve your pace is to do weekly speed sessions/hill reps, regular tempo runs and to enter plenty of races. Tempo runs are sessions where you are running hard, but not quite at race pace, for a certain number of miles in a session. You already do the hill reps, but you would get the most benefit from them by coming every week. People always push themselves on when racing, so they do make you stronger overall. with half marathons, pacing and mental attitude are really key. Go off too quickly and you will feel tired and fed up at the end as other runners pass you. The aim is to do the 2nd half faster than the first, that way, you will feel good in yourself as you pass other runners and will enjoy a strong finish, which will leave you wanting more!enjoy the support from the crowds and tell yourself you have done the training and can achieve your goal. You are an athlete , just the same as everyone else on the start line! Ramathon is a good first half, pretty flat and good crowd support. Happy to discuss further or do some practice runs together if you fancy it? I think Ramathon also do breakfast course reccies which are really worth attending.
